Great pizza for delivery! We had a very large party (over 70 guests). We ordered a lot of what we thought would be EXTRA pizzas but everyone seems to love Lou Mal's so much, we barely had a pizza left over. Came on time, very nice delivery lady, and delicous pizza. They even gave us a 20% discount for our huge order which was much appreciated! We will definitely order again from here.

I love Chicago style pizza and Lou's has it! This location is take out only but it is solid. I can always count on getting a real Chicago pizza here and they also have things my kids will eat too. The staff is alway friendly happy and there to help!

Great pizza and they deliver. There are many pizza options in the area and some of them deliver but this one is far better than any others. Deep dish Lou without the mushrooms is my choice. Basically a pizza with some spinach. I still think Gino's east is the best deep dish but this is a close second.

My experience with Chicago style pizza has mostly been with Giordano's and I can say without a doubt that this pizza is better. I went with a personal Malnati Chicago Classic and was extremely impressed. I ordered on the train while on my way from the city and it was ready right on time. The pizza was a decent size for one person and they definitely take care with the packaging to make sure it arrives safe. The crust was buttery and crispy which was a very welcome change from the typical. The sauce, cheese, and sausage all blended together perfectly to make every bite delicious. All I could think about after getting that pie was going to get another. I'll probably end up having a couple shipped out to me so I can relive the experience again.

My favorite pizza for over 40 years and the only one requested by my finicky 10 year old. I still love the sausage patty on the deep dish, but the Lou is a great healthier option and the thin pizza maintains a great crust. The Malnatti salad is great too. Wonderful recipe is consistent at other locations.

Favorite pizza of all time. Between the freshness of the sauce, the flavor of the Italian sausage, the loads of mozzarella, and the butter crust- you are hard-pressed to find a better deep dish pizza. And this is Chicago, people. My only beef with this particular branch would be sometimes the middle will seem slightly undercooked; most likely due to rushed orders in high volume.

I ordered the Italian beef sandwich thinking I was going to get a dry and average beef but I have to say i was wrong, it was actually pretty damn good and I will be ordering it again very soon...the beef juice ad a little kick to it and that's a plus in my book

Everything a pizza should be. I love the pizza here and I always get the butter crust. I order from this location on a regular basis and never have had a bad experience. Anytime they have been at fault with something it has been made right. Also their pasta aren't bad either. You can't go wrong ordering this pizza.

Great pizza. Got a $3 off coupon in the mail for a large pizza, which expired a few weeks ago. Just ordered and the refused to accept the expired coupon. $3 off on a $35 order refused! Really! Great way to build customer loyalty. Just thought I would spread the word a bit.

Incredible deep dish-- probably the best in Highland Park! The crust is buttery and crisp, the mix of cheeses is sharp and flavorful, the tomatoes are ripe, soft, and flavorful. And I love that the Lou, their special, is vegetarian! Get it: spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes... too good, they work magically and garlic-ly together. I also like that they're realistic and honest about portion sizes. The individual really is an individual-sized pizza; the small really does serve 2, being 9" in diameter and yielding 4 not-too-overwhelming slices. For a little over $13, definitely a reasonably priced lunch/dinner option! Tonight they also had free samples available in the store, so waiting those last few minutes for them to bring the pizza out, smelling the smells, watching other orders come out in secretive cardboard boxes containing the food of the Chicagods, wasn't painful at all. Always my last meal before I leave town for extended periods of time... Like when I move out of my parents' house tomorrow!

This may very we'll be my favorite pizza, I like the thick, crispy oily crust and their thin crust as well. The giardiniera deep dish pizza is one of my favorite foods.

Well, what can I say. It was definitely the best deep-dish pizza that I have ever had. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers for recommending the "Lou" pizza. It was altogether lovely, with its tomato, spinach, mushrooms, cheese, crust, sauce, ummmmm! I am wishing I had some right now! The thing is - all of the toppings were so very fresh! Like they picked the tomatoes out of the garden on the same day. The crust was perfect, buttery, flaky, and held up well to the generous toppings. We ordered a small for about $13 and it served my husband and I perfectly. We were full. My husband said this was on the top of his list when asked what was his favorite part about his trip to Chicago! Please go and try them! This particular location does take-out and delivery only. They have another location that is a sit-down restaurant and has other great items besides pizza. We drove for about 20 minutes to get here and it was worth it! We called ahead and the person that answered the phone was EXTREMELY helpful, patient and polite!

We are super fans at our house. Is once a week too too often??????? Recent transplants from North Carolina-we have to get caught up on our deep dish consumption!!

I had the tomatoes, spinach and mushroom pizza..will NOT be ordering that again..

Inconsistent. I'm not a big fan of deep dish, so we have tried their thin crust a few time. Very inconsistent.

  • J M.

I love Lou's don't get md wrong. They are just very inconsistent at this location. Some times it's perfect but other times (like tonight) terrible. One hour wait for pick up at 615 on a Sunday night. Still had to wait when I got there. Get home and cut the deep dish cheese and recut the thin... Both were not done. Thin was stuck to the cardboard so that was a bummer & the deep dish was just sauce and cheese on dough. Almost inedible.

The best pizza in the world! Hands down. From coast to coast, all over the globe, Lou's does it best. Trust me. Deep dish with sausage. mmm...

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and Lou Malnati's is one of my top two favorite deep dish pizza places. YYYUUUMMMM Everytime I come back home to Chicago, without fail, my first meal is Lou's. I like ordering Deep Dish cheese or with veggies, but you really can't go wrong as long as it's deep dish. I also love the cheese ravioli with meat sauce--really any of the pasta with the meat sauce, oooooh it's so good! A great "welcome home" !

Fantastic deep dish. Probably a dozen locations scattered throughout Chicago and the burbs. Same great taste at every place I tried. Order in advance as it takes 45min, as is the case for any good deep dish pie. The crust is really worth eating, so if you normally aren't a crust fan, convince yourself to try it here. Ingredients really taste fresh.

They've done it! The best gluten free pizza I have had to date. So much better than their early attempts with a sausage patty "crust". Not gluten free? No problem. Thin is great, but the pan is where it's at. I love the Lou with extra garlic. Timing has always been prompt whether delivery or pick up. A great go to for pizza in the North Shore.

  • Ellie H.

Wonderful thick crust, layer upon layer of toppings. But it was all coated in a layer of grease that I was not expecting. The crust lacked any sort of flavor. Even a yeast rise flavor. To be honest I had a better deep dish frozen pizza from Costco, that was also made in Chicago. Not very good buffalo chicken wings. Again very greasy. Although the salad, the salad was ginormous and filling. And well worth the $5. Not worth the $45 price tag to go back.

Worst pizza I ever had. To make it even worst I saw a special on TV after I ate here & on TV the owner put his bare hand in the vat sauce took a tomato out & ate it. Then went on to say he did not allow the workers there to do that. Unclean yuck

I had never had deep dish pizza. Being from Hawaii I did not know what I was missing! I had wanted to dine in somewhere, a bit leery of deep dish delivery, but I have to say, this pizza was divine!!!! I ordered some of every category and don't have one complaint. I even bought frozen pizzas for another day and they were amazing! The service on the phone was friendly and incredibly helpful and the delivery came quickly! I will definitely be a return customer!

When $25 is only $.25! I've never been a huge fan of deep dish pizza, but for the holidays my sister-in-law gave us a $25 gift card to Lou's. For New Year's Eve we placed an order for a deep dish personal "Lou" pizza for my husband who doesn't eat meat, and a half-sausage, half-cheese for me and the boys. The Highland Park location is carry-out only, so he went to pick it up when they said it would be ready. He pulled out the card, the cashier asked him if he knew how much was on it, and he told her the card was for $25. But to his surprise he was told there was only $.25 on it! My sister-in-law is one of those clever individuals who somehow wins Lou gift cards all the time by playing radio show games, so I think she gave us a card she had already used by mistake!!!! We laughed at the situation (we'll never tell her of course) and prepared ourselves for a feast. Ummm...where's the pizza! The personal size "Lou" was much smaller than we anticipated, but nevertheless my husband thoroughly enjoyed it...still hungry after the single slice though. The yummy sausage and cheese pizza with the buttery crust was honestly exactly how I remembered it from 14 years ago! Believe it or not, that's the last time I visited Lou Malnati's. The boys weren't into the fresh tomato toppings, so it took some convincing to get them to eat. For those who enjoy deep dish, Lou's is a treat. However, I think it's a bit pricey for the amount of pizza you get. For $25 I'd rather spend my money eating in a restaurant. Nothing personal, but I would have rather had Chinese food instead. Not a huge fan of this type of pizza I doubt we'll be back. Budget-minded, I give this place 3 stars because I just don't think it's a great value for the everyday pizza purchase.

This is our usual place for deep dish pizza. We don't go for a wide variety on the menu, it's a pizzeria so we get pizza. Butter crust is great but I only can get that when I call in the order. My spouse doesn't agree with the butter crust. We've done the thin crust and it's good too, but so is Moccio's over by Jewel, good for thin I mean. We've had a salad from Lou's and it's also decent. The other thing that is worth mentioning is the *consistency*. We always get what we order hot and pretty much on time. I like to pick up myself. The quality and taste are predictable and consistent. Always good sausage and sauce, or fresh spinach is a good one. I'm also realistic in that on a rainy Saturday night or the night before a major holiday, I know they're going to be busy, so I allow for extra time and I don't active an ass when I go in for pick up. And despite the crowds that are not always so considerate, the manager and staff are always friendly and professional. Grab a half baked frozen one for the freezer.

Despite trying to cut grains outta my diet recently, I cannot avoid pizza when I'm home in the Chicago area. And I especially cannot pass on Lou Malnati's. Having living in the midwest, on the east coast, and having spent time on the west coast, there is truly nothing more delicious than a slice of Malnati's deep dish. For the uninitiated, Malnati's pizzas start with a crunchy, thick, buttery cornmeal crust, layered with literally pounds of mozzarella cheese, fresh toppings, and then finished with a chunky, sweet, spicy sauce of plum tomatoes. Yes, sauce on top. And no, you will not succeed in eating it with your hands-- do not try. Seriously. Standouts are their Deluxe, a pizza covered in mozzarella, a thick layer of spicy, peppery homemade sausage, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, that lovely sauce, and a dash of parmesan. Non meat eater? Try the Lou, a deep dish topped with that thick layer of mozzarella, peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomato sauce, sliced tomato, and a bit of sharp, tangy Wisconsin cheddar. Vegan? Don't bother. Really. As far the Highland Park location, the service is quick and efficient. Employees answering the phone are always polite and, for deliveries, your pizza will arrive within an hour, hot, fresh, and served with a smile. They also have a great selection of salads, condiments (but the pizza doesn't really need them), and Eli's cheesecake slices.

Nobody does pizza better than Lou Malnati, and no pizza tastes betters than his namesake "Lou." This is a vegetarian special, but a meat lover like myself never regrets the selection. Ingredients include liberal amounts of spinach, mushrooms and sliced tomatoes covered with a blend of mozzarella, romano and... yes, cheddar (it somehow works). Just fantastic. This location is takeout only but the pizza holds up well on your drive home. You will absolutely love this pizza.

I'm going to give four stars. I have been eating this pizza starting at the Lincoln ave store a long time ago. This is an up side down pizza with a sheet of sausage in the middle. This concept is very delicious. This is the best pizza for my taste. We get carry out because hp is very small. I don't pick it up but for all I know it might be a full seating place by now. I recommend everyone try this once and you might get hooked. Parking can be difficult and this is just a store front place so don't bring the gang with you.

Awesome! I always enjoy a delicious deep dish slathered in a layer of sausage (how do they do that?) and fresh veggies. This was exceptionally great because it was take out and when we actually got to eat it 20 min later, it was still hot, steamy and delicious. Even the crust was still at it's best - crunchy and buttery, NOT soggy! 5 stars b/c my new mommy friend praised us for bringing her yummy non-hospital food, post labor!

  • Justin S.

Had delivery today. Thin crust pepperoni. It was good. Not a lot of sauce like other reviewers said. I have had their deep dish before and think that is better than the thin crust. Delivery was 45 mins, so normal for pizza delivery.

Maybe I am just deprived back home, but this pizza was amazing. When I picked it up to go I almost dropped the box because I wasn't expecting it to be that heavy! The Lou Malnati's salad had the freshest ingredients and a homemade salad dressing. From the real bacon bits to the ripe tomatoes I am completely sold on this place. Now bring a franchise to Texas!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
